DeHaven to Retire as CEO of the Indiana Bankers Association
S. Joe DeHaven has announced plans to retire as chief executive officer of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA), effective Dec. 31. He has served in association leadership for 26 years and in Indiana banking for 47 years.
Bray Named IBA Legislator of the Year
Sen. Rodric Bray, R-District 37, has been honored as 2016 Legislator of the Year by the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). The award was presented by IBA President Amber R. Van Til at the Association’s Annual Convention in French Lick, Indiana, on Sept. 12.
Head Named Sagamore of the Wabash
Michael H. Head, president and chief executive officer of First Federal Savings Bank, Evansville, has been named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Mike Pence.
Russell Elected 2017 Chair of Indiana Bankers Association
Annette M. Russell, president and chief executive officer of Security Federal Savings Bank, Logansport, has been elected 2017 chair of the board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). She currently serves the IBA as first vice chair and was elected to her new position at the IBA’s annual business meeting on Sept. 12 in French Lick, Indiana.
Denton Promoted at Indiana Bankers Association
Dax Denton has been promoted to senior vice president-government relations of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). He joined the Association in 2008 as assistant vice president-government relations and was promoted in 2012 to vice president-government relations.
Van Til Named IBA President
Amber R. Van Til has been named president of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA), effective March 31. Additionally she has been designated successor to S. Joe DeHaven, chief executive officer of the IBA, in preparation for his upcoming retirement in 2017.

Myers Honored as Sagamore of the Wabash
Larry W. Myers, president and chief executive officer of First Savings Bank, Clarksville, has been named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Mike Pence. The award recognizes Hoosiers who complete distinguished statewide service. Myers was presented the award by Tim Berry, director of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions, on Sept. 15 at the Annual Convention of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) in French Lick, Indiana.
Van Til Named Executive Vice President
Amber R. Van Til has been named an executive vice president of the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA). She most recently served as senior vice president-government relations, with primary responsibility for all state banking legislative issues and for IBA’s communications functions.
Banking on Community: 2014 Survey Results
Banks offer multiple services to their communities. In addition to providing loans and capital to individuals and businesses, banks are deeply involved in community organizations, providing time, talent and capital to help build better communities. To measure the donations of Indiana banks to their communities, the Indiana Bankers Association (IBA) surveyed member banks about their community involvement through 2014. A total of 31 IBA-member institutions responded, representing approximately 22 percent of membership.
